The 2nd edition of Friday Night Live is set to be an exciting tournament showcasing some of Kenya’s top men’s and women’s hockey teams. With 22 teams registered across the men’s and women’s competitions, fans are in for two days of enthralling matches.
Reigning champions DTE Western Jaguars and Strathmore Ladies will face a tough challenge defending their titles in what is shaping up to be the most competitive Friday Night Live yet. In the men’s category, teams like Parklands HC, Sikh Union and KU men all have the quality to lift the trophy. Meanwhile the women’s event features strong outfits such as Blazers HC, KU ladies and Amira who will be hungry for success.
While the traditional powerhouses will be favorites, this tournament also provides an opportunity for rising teams to announce themselves on the big stage. Young sides including USIU Men and Simah could surprise a few opponents, as could DFG Wolverines and Sliders in the women’s event. Regardless of the final standings, the primary goal of Friday Night Live is enabling players to showcase their talents through friendly but competitive matches.
Over the next two days, hockey fans can look forward to skilled displays, memorable performances and tight battles at Dashmesh Hockey Stadium. Both individual skills and team tactics will be put to the test. With so many passionate clubs involved, a vibrant atmosphere is assured. Most importantly, the development of Kenya’s national game will be further strengthened as promising new talent emerges on the scene.
