Blue Ocean Chiefs (BOC) are the winners of the inaugural Mombasa County Hockey Association (MCHA) Mtaani Beach Hockey Festival. The one day festival attracted 6 teams which took part in the tournament. The teams were divided into 2 pools. Pool A had Likoni Sharks, K Town Pirates, and Nyali Coolkids. Pool B had Bamburi Finest, Blue Ocean Chiefs, and Island Catalyst
Sharks met with BOC in the 1st semi and after a 2-2 full time score, BOC defeated them in the shootout 2-1. Nyali coolkids defeated Bamburi finest 3-2 in the 2nd semi final. Blue Ocean Chiefs beat the Nyali Coolkids 2-1 and lifted the trophy.
MCHA will be letting the hockey fraternity know when the next festival will be held. Todays festival was held at Nyali Barracks Beach, Off Mount Kenya Road in Mombasa’s Nyali area.
