Blue Ocean Chiefs (BOC) were today crowned in Nakuru champs after they defeated the hosts Nakuru 3-0 in Penalty Shootout after a 1-1.
Jane Wanja opened the opener for Nakuru in the 2nd minute and in the 4th minute Joshua Njogu equalized for BOC. James Mwangi, and Barnabas Ochieng failed to goal past Stephen Otieno the goalkeeper who came in 30 Sec to the end of the match. Austin Otieno, Joshua Njogu and Friday scored for BOC.
Speaking after the being crowned champs BOC captain Anthony Wamalwa, said that they were very happy to have finally won the trophy after coming close in Mombasa and loosing to Nakuru.
“We said it in Mombasa after loosing to them in Mombasa that we are coming for the trophy in Nakuru and I’m glad that we have won it. This is not the end because we are looking to break the record by being the 1st team to retain it”
said Wamalwa
Anthony Igoto of Parkroad emerged the goalkeeper of the tournament while Jane Wanja and Farhan Khan were the ladies and men top scorers respectively.
