
The Kenya Hockey league resumed today with four exciting matches played at City Park. Three
premier league matches were played with the top two teams getting all the points while the Super
the league was represented with one match.
Super league
The day began with a match featuring Multimedia University (MMU) and Kisumu Youngsters. MMU
opened the score in the sixth minute with a goal from Leon Muyasu through a penalty corner. They later
secured their win in the 18th minute through a penalty shot scored by Leon Muyasu. MMU climbed the
Super league table to 10th place with 9 points and a goal difference of -7 while Youngsters dropped to
11th with only eight points and a goal difference of -10. Both of the teams have played only nine games.
Premier league
The premier league returned with three matches being played at City Park. At 1:00 pm, a thrilling match
was witnessed featuring Chase Sailors and Kenya Police. Kenya police opened the scoreboard with a goal three minutes before the end of the first half courtesy of Benson Wakhongo.
Sailors got their equalizer in the 18th minute with a goal from Johnstone Indiazi. Sailors then got their second goal at the forty-fourth minute with a goal from Felix Opora. Kenya Police revamped their hopes by equalizing five minutes into the last quarter with a goal from Moses Cheplaiti through a penalty corner. The Kenya Police captain, Robert Masibo, then secured their comeback win with a goal five minutes before the last whistle. Kenya Police are still second on the premier league table with 22 points and a goal difference of 11 while Sailors are fifth with 11 points and a goal difference of 2.

The exciting match was played at 3:00 pm. Butali opened the score with a goal from Barnabas Odhiambo seconds before the first quarter ended. Butali’s Amos Barkibir scored the second goal two minutes into the second quarter.
Wazalendo got their first goal from Joseph Kasua in the 21st minute. Two minutes later Butali added a third goal from Calvins Kanu through a penalty shot. Not so far later, in the 28th minute, Butali got their fourth goal Barnabus Odhiambo who got his second goal for the day.
Joseph Kasua tried to keep Wazalendo’s hopes alive by scoring his second field goal in the 37th minute. Butali scored two late goals in the 58th and 60th minute both provided by Francis Kariuki bringing the score line to 6-2. Butali who is still leading the table now has 23 points with a goal difference of 14 while Wazalendo is fourth with 13 points and a goal difference of -2.
The last game of the day featured Greenshanks taking on USIU-A at 5:00 pm. Greenshanks won the game with a solo goal from Rioba Marwa in the fifth minute. Green Sharks are now positioned 7th on the table with 10 points from 8 games while USIU is 6th with 11 points from 9 games they have played so far.
