The first round of matches in the 2024 UHA Uganda Cup men’s and women’s tournaments treated fans to an avalanche of goals and memorable performances. In one of the most one-sided matches in recent memory, Weatherhead Men overpowered Kampala Originals 11-1, with striker Opio grabbing a hat-trick. Elsewhere, KHC Originals earned a measure of revenge for their past early exits, defeating WHC Titans 1-11 behind Epilo’s late goal. Titans managed a solitary response though Kafeero which proved mere consolation.
Women’s Results
Wananchi Women left no doubt about their championship credentials, thrashing Makerere University 7-0 at home. Anyango bagged a brace and Mbabazi also found the net twice, supported by further goals from Alimo, Makhoha and Neluma. In the other fixture, Wananchi-HDF closed out their first match with a 4-1 victory over WHC Historicals.
