Impala Veterans crowned Champions of the KHU Masters Tournament

The Kenya Hockey Union Masters Tournament Series held at City park came to an end today with new champions being crowned. Four matches were played which included the two semifinals, a playoffs match, and the final.

This semifinal one featured Impala veterans facing Wazalendo where they ended up securing a place in the finals by beating Wazalendo. Only one goal from Linet Lusinde proved to be enough for them to beat the veterans from Wazalendo.

Nakuru Hockey veterans faced Blue Ocean Chiefs in the second semifinal of the tournament. The veterans from Nakuru eventually secured a place in the semifinal by beating their Mombasa-based counterparts four goals to one. Nakuru’s goals were from James Mwangi, James Waruta, and a brace from Zack Aura while Friday Mathew scored a consolation goal for Blue Ocean Pirates.

Both losers from the Semifinals met each other for the playoffs match to decide who will take the third and fourth place in the tournament. Blue Ocean won the playoffs match by three goals hence finishing the tournament in third place while Wazalendo took fourth.

Finals

Impala veterans met with Nakuru H.C at the finals to decide who would take the tournament bragging rights. Nakuru Scored first in the first half of the game but a determined Impala equalized in the second half. Despite both teams trying to get their second goal, the match ended with a draw which forced the match to be decided with shootouts. Impala was crowned the champions by beating Nakuru in the shootouts by two goals to one.
