KHU Releases The Blades list of 18 as they Depart to South Africa.

Kenya Hockey Union has released the final list of players of 18 people who are travelling today at night for the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024.

GoalKeepers

Cynthia Akinyi and Millicent Adhiambo will be the goalkeepers for the tournament. Cynthia has 14 caps for the national team while Millecent has 9.

Defenders


The defence includes Mourine Owiti with 12 caps, Vivian Anyango with 9 caps, Lucy Wangechi with, Diana Awino, Flavia Mutiva with 45 caps, and Lyne Tamunai with 12 caps.

Midfielders


The midfield cumulatively carries good years in experience for national assignment. They include Caroline Guchu with the highest cap of 54 caps, Tracy Karanja is back with 31 caps, Pauline Ochieng, Naomi Kemunto with 12 caps, and Mourine Achieng.

Forwards


This position also has players with good experience in the international stage. They include Eleanor Chebet and Grace Bwire have 12 caps. Aurelia Opondo has 4, Maureen Okumu has 21 and Alice Owiti has 16.

The Africa Hockey Road to Paris has released the Road to Paris Olympics 2024. The event, which will take place from October 29th to November 5th, 2023, will be held in Pretoria, South Africa. The Africa Hockey Federation has released the schedule for the tournament, which involves 15 teams, both men’s and women’s.

The ladies are also in two pools. Pool A comprises hosts South Africa, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe. South Africa is 21st in the world and the 1st in the world. Nigeria is 38th in the world and 4th in Africa. Zimbwabwe are 39th in the world and 5th in Africa.

In pool B, it consists of Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, and Zambia. Ghana is ranked 32nd in the world and 2nd in Africa. Kenya is 37th in the world and 3rd in Africa. Namibia is 50th in the world and 6th in Africa. Zambia is 74th in the world and 8th in Africa.

The first match will be played on Sunday, October 29, between Ghana and Namibia. Kenya take on that same day with Zambia in the women’s category. On Monday, the Kenya men faceoff with Zambia at 10 am.
