It was an excellent outing for Western Kenya teams in the top tier leagues in both ladies and men’s premier leagues. Kisumu-based Lakers Hockey club started the party with a 4-0 win against struggling Sliders Hockey club. Moreen Awiti and Achieng recorded a brace each.
In an earlier match, Strathmore Scorpions made their title hunt clearer after pumping 3 straight goals past another limping outfit Amira Sailors.
After falling in the hands of Sailors last weekend, Greensharks got to winning ways as they handed Meshack Senge’s led Strathmore Gladiators a second consecutive loss. Greensharks beat the university lads by 2goals to one.
The icing on the Saturday fixture came when the much-awaited match pitting league leaders Butali against Michael Malungu’s led Western.
As expected, the match was entertaining. Despite numerous attacks from both teams, Jaguars were the first to get past the custodian. Allan Malit and Bethuel Masambu were on target for Jaguars while George Mutira scored a brace for Butali.
