What a thrilling conclusion to Masters Series 2 in Mombasa! While there were many outstanding performances across both the men’s and women’s tournaments, a select few truly stood out as kings and queens of the goalscoring charts.
In the ladies category, Charity Miller of Sikh Union Nairobi demonstrated why she’s simply unmatched with a predatory display. Netting an astonishing 3 goals in a single game was a masterclass in finishing. Her speed, movement and nose for goal were on full display. With such versatility and composure in front of goal, Charity rightfully earned her crown as the tournaments’ scoring queen.
However, we must acknowledge the other ladies who joined Charity on the scoresheet. Notably, Susan Muchai and Alice Ongolo stepped up for their teams when needed most. There was also terrific workmanlike performances from the likes of Sandra, Glen, Doris and Linet. The quality across the board shows women’s football continues gaining popularity and competitiveness in Kenya.
In the men’s bracket, Moses Cheplaiti further proved his credentials as one of Kenya’s premier strikers. His intelligence and lethal finishing made him impossible to handle, resulting in a tournament-high 4 goals. However, Asif Shah and Farhan Khan weren’t far behind, each registering braces to stake their own claims. A special mention also to Joshua, Godfrey, Gurdeep, Wycliffe and Fredrick for raising the goal bar.
In summary, while there were many heroes over the intense last weekend, Charity and Moses rightfully stand tallest as the new king and queen of Masters Series 2. Their brilliance was key in deciding this year’s trophies. With such talents leading the way, excitement is high looking to Masters Series 3!
