The UHA Uganda Cup is one of the longest running and most prestigious domestic cup competitions in Ugandan sport. First launched in 1950, it was put on hiatus in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, in partnership with major sponsors Jibu and NCS, the cup is set to return in 2024 with an exciting lineup of matches in the opening round.
Fixtures for Women’s Round 1
On Saturday, May 18th, Wanachi will take onMakerere University at 1pm to kick off the women’s fixtures. Later that day at 5:15pm, Wanachi-HDF will battle it out against WHC Historicals.
Fixtures for Men’s Round 1
The men’s games get underway on the same day with KHC Originals facing Weatherhead at 2:30pm, followed by Kampala playing WHC Titans at 4pm.
On Sunday, May 19th, Wanachi will play Thunders at 1pm. City Lions and Badgers have a 2:30pm clash, and Rockets will meet Makerere University at 5:15pm.
In the final women’s fixture on Sunday, Weatherhead will take on Deliverance at 4pm.
A Premier Cup Competition Returns
With its long history and prestige, the return of the UHA Uganda Cup is a major development for hockey in Uganda. Thanks to the support of title sponsors Jibu and NCS, some of the country’s top men’s and women’s clubs will compete for national cup glory. Fans can look forward to exciting hockey action across the opening weekend of fixtures.
