Blazers and Greensharks have today defeated the ladies and men from USIU in the premier league matches that were played at City Park today. This was among the 9 matches played today in the fixture.
Blazers and USIU Ladies
The match started on a high note, with USIU dominating and making their way into the D of the Blazers. The Blazers got a chance in the 5th minute and scored a beautiful goal courtesy of Maureen Akumu.
In the 2nd quarter, the Blazers got their first penalty corner (PC) on the foul of Mbugua Beatrice, and Terry Juma converted it. Less than 5 minutes later, they got a second penalty corner, and Lucy Wangeshi converted it with a slap shot.
Maureen Okumu, a few minutes later, got a chance inside the D, but the ball passed by the goal and went out. USIU got a penalty shot after a defender was tripped in a circle while attempting to score. The goal was scored by Harriet Omindi, and five minutes later USIU added a second goal courtesy of Lynn Mumbi.
Greensharks and USIU game
Just like the ladies match, they started with a minute of silence in honour of Innocent Mbabali, a former player of USIU who had passed on.
Greensharks got two goals in the first 5 minutes. It was a seesaw game as both teams tried to get a goal past the goalkeeper.
In the second quarter, USIU dominated the match, pressing the Sharks in their half. Their efforts, however, didn’t bear fruit for the whole quarter.
In the dying minutes, 20 Greensharks were coming into the post and were fouled, hence being given a penalty shot, and Leon got it in on the right lower side of Jude Ongondo.
A few minutes later, USIU got a chance to equalise, but the goalkeeper saved the day by clearing it off his post.
