Curtains close down on the 2022 season this weekend

The 2022 hockey season comes to an end this weekend with the last games scheduled to be played at City Park including the National league playoffs.

Saturday

The first match is scheduled to commence at noon with the National league – Eastern zone leaders, Daikyo Heroes facing Blue Pirates from Kakamega who are the Western zone runners up. At 1400hrs, the University of Eldoret who are the Western zone league leaders will face the University of Nairobi who are the runners up of the Eastern zone.

In the men’s Super league, Mvita XI will face Kisumu Youngsters at four as both teams will be looking forward to gain a position if they win. Later on, Sailors will host varsity side USIU-A men in the Premier league at six o’clock. Sailors are now positioned sixth in the league while the latter are seventh.

Sunday

The last match day of the season will kick off at 8 o’clock in the morning with the losers of both national league matches played on Saturday facing each other for the 3rd and 4th position in the national league. At 0930 hrs. both winners of the national league matches played on Saturday will face each other to decide the winners and first runners up of the National league.

At 10 o’clock, Kenyatta University men will face Sikh Union at the Dashmesh stadium. Sikh Union will be looking forward to winning this match as it decides whether they will carry the Super league trophy since they are two points behind KCAU.

In the Women’s premier league, DFG wolverines will face league leaders Strathmore University ladies at 11 o’clock. The last match of the season will be from the Men’s Premier league where league leaders Butali will host Kenya Police at City Park from one o’clock. Kenya Police will be looking forward to winning this match in order for them to be second in the league and qualify for the African Club Champions competition. After this game there will be presentations of league winners’ trophies and medals as the 2022 season is closed.
