It’s been a good day for Hockey fans in Kenya as the 2022 league kicked in earnest in 2 venues in the city of Nairobi.
At the Strathmore University grounds, gorilla prevailed over Daystar University by a solitary goal and Impala started on a high note beating Karate 5 goals to 1.
At City Park, Sikh Union Nairobi (Simba) drew 1-1 with Parkroad Tigers in the first match of the day. Simba was the 1st to score in the 17th minute through Harui Singa.
Tables changed 2 minutes into the 2nd half when Mohammed Ishmael scored a fantastic goal for the Tigers.
Premier League Women defending champions, Blazers won the ladies derby defeating Sliders 3-0.
Helena Chebet and Grace Bwire scored for Blazers in the 31st, 54th, and 58th minute of the game.
Parkroad Badgers and Greensharks will have to wait a little longer to see whether the 3-1 score in favor of Greensharks will stand or if the Badgers will recover after the game was halted in the last quarter due to power fluctuations.
