Meshack Senge: Inspiring Excellence and Giving Back to the Game of Hockey.

In this week’s hockey feature, I had the incredible opportunity to speak with Meshack Senge, also known as Mesh. As I sat down with him, I could sense his passion for the game, which he first encountered back in 1988. It was a moment that would shape his life forever.

Meshack has played for various clubs throughout his career, including Ksm Simba, Armed Forces, Strathmore Hockey Club, Suelli, CUS Bologna, and Impala Veterans. However, it was an injury that pushed him towards coaching. It was during his time off the field that he realized his true calling – to impart his knowledge and experience to the next generation of hockey players.

His motivation to pursue coaching came from the influence of his hockey national team neighbors and his exposure to international tournaments. The desire to represent his country both as a player and a coach, along with the satisfaction of winning league titles with both the men’s and women’s teams, has been the highlight of his career. Moreover, becoming a certified FIH High Performance Coach has been a testament to his dedication and expertise.

But Meshack’s drive goes beyond personal achievements. He is motivated by the desire to help his players surpass his own accomplishments and to make a positive impact on their lives. Giving back to the sport that has given him so much is his ultimate goal.

His international coaching experience has been a journey filled with valuable lessons. While there have been numerous successes, there have also been a few setbacks. However, Meshack emphasizes that every experience has been a chance for growth and learning. The fulfillment and enrichment he has gained from coaching on the international stage are immeasurable.

For aspiring coaches, Meshack’s advice is simple but profound. He urges them to discover themselves and their coaching style. He encourages them never to become too comfortable, always seeking ways to improve and enhance their skills. Most importantly, he reminds them to find joy in their work, as passion and enjoyment are vital for success in the world of coaching.

Meshack Senge’s journey in hockey is one of dedication, perseverance, and a deep love for the game. He has not only left a lasting impact on the sport but also on the lives of those he has coached. As I wrapped up our conversation, I couldn’t help but admire his unwavering commitment to his players and his unwavering desire to see them thrive.
