
The KHU league on Sunday ended on a high with some teams getting disappointing results as others went away rejoicing. Other teams shared points at home and others set records.
Super League men
Kenyatta University (KU) Vultures ended Sikh Union’s (Simba) winning streak today at home with seconds before the buzzer went off. 11 minutes into the game Simba got their goal courtesy of Hosea Walucho. 6 minutes later vultures equalized through Derrick Embu. The match continued with both teams working on getting the 3 points. With a minute to go Vultures got a penalty corner and made good use of it through Ronny Aguko who converted it. This is KU’s 3rd victory.
Speaking to Hockey 254, the vultures coach Richard Wandera said “It was a tough weekend for the boys as they faced ‘THE TEST’ of the season. I am happy that we managed to steer the team through the challenge and get the maximum points.”
“Our hard work is paying off now. Patience and sticking to the team philosophy has been our greatest lesson in the season. We still have a long way to go, so we will keep working hard in training”

Down at the Coast, Mvita XI home wins came to an end after KCA Wazito beat them 3-1. Arnold Marango, Brian Marina, and Dan Masika scored in the 12, 14, and 58th minutes of the game. Samuel Nandwa scored the consolation goal in the 39th minute.
Across in Kisumu, Youngstars shared points with visiting side Nakuru after drawing 1-1. Duncan Mugaisi of Nakuru and Dovan Wanga of Youngstars scored in the 6th and 9th minutes of the game respectively.
JKUAT wildcats were back to winning ways beating their fellow university side MMU 2-0. Collins Odongo and Brian Gitahi scored in the 37th and 53 minutes of the game.
Super League Ladies
Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) beat Vikings 4-0 at home in Mombasa. Mary Simiyu 16” FG, Esther Mwikali 30” PC, Kasichana Iha 33” PC, Yvonne Chemutai 55” FG scored for MSC. JKUAT beat Nairobi Chapel by a solitary goal. Captain Lucky Adhiambo scored the lone goal in the 49th minute of the game.
National League
Eastern Zone
Mombasa West was given a walkover after Karate failed to show up for the match in Mombasa. Mombasa was awarded 3 points and 5 goals.
Western Zone
Lamech Chumo’s goal in the 44th minute for Kitale Hockey Club gave them 3 points denying Nandi Hawks.
Premier League
Wazalendo Hockey Club has recorded the highest goals so far in the Men’s Premier League thrashing arch-rivals Parkroad badgers 5-1 at City Park. Wazalendo’s Cliffe Omari 27”, 37”, 57”, Brian Aura 34”, Sutcliffe Usagi 39” . Washington Otambo 32” scored the consolation goal for Badgers.
In the last match of the day, Kenya Police beat Greensharks 2-1. Samuel Oungo 32”, Titus Kimutai 44”. Shark’s lone goal was scored by Chris Wokila 57”
