Kenya Hockey Union AGM Postponed indefinitely.

The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) has postponed the elective Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM was scheduled to take place on 23rd April 2022. KHU Secretary-General Wycliffe Momanyi communicated through correspondence to the affiliate County Associations on 21st April 2022.

Wycliffe stated the reason for the postponement is due to compliance with the Sports Act 2013. Hockey 254 has learned that a majority of the County associations have not complied with the Sports Act. In March, Kenya Rugby Union had to postpone its AGM due to a similar issue raised by Sports Registrar Rose Wasike.

Speaking to Hockey 254, KHU Secretary-General Wycliffe Ongori said that they are working on ensuring even Hockey Clubs comply.

Sports Act came into effect in August 2013. Existing Clubs, County Sports Associations, and National Sports Organizations had up to 1 year to comply. Ministry of Sports gave a grace period up to 2017 to comply with the Act.
