The KHU Masters tournament series began today in chilly weather but that did not stop the veterans from showcasing their skills and experience in the game. Teams that managed to play today were; Impala, Greensharks, Sikh Union, Wazalendo, Blue Ocean Chiefs, Parkroad, Nakuru HC, and Defence Masters.
Impala and Greensharks opened the day when they faced each other. Impala took all the points home through two goals from Bila Godfrey and John Kabuu. Greenshark’s Nixon Nyanganga managed to squeeze in a consolation goal but it wasn’t enough.
Game two featured Sikh Union facing Wazalendo where Sikh Union emerged victors. Sikh union scored two goals from Amrit Ghataurhae and Parraj Shemi while Wazalendo scored one from Wycliffe Ongori.
The third game of the day saw Nakuru hockey club facing Defence Masters where Nakuru comfortably took the points by netting four goals past the Defence Masters goalkeeper. The goals were scored by James Mwangi, Boyle Andrew, Terry Juma, and Sukhal Singh.
Blue Ocean Chiefs then took on Parkroad where they managed to get all the points. Blue Ocean scored three goals while Parkroad managed to only get one goal. Blue Ocean scorers were Anthony Ouma, Joshua Njogu, and Kennedy Kyalo while Micah Mitoko scored for Parkroad.
Nakuru managed to secure a comfortable win against the Sikh union by beating them three goals to none. The goals were scored by Richard Birir and Harminder Singi who scored a brace, one converting a PC while the other was a stroke.
Greensharks versus Blue Ocean Chiefs was next as game six of the day. Blue Ocean Chiefs managed to sneak only one goal which proved to be enough for them to secure all the points. Kennedy Kyalo was the scorer for this game.
The Defence veterans then faced Wazalendo but the latter managed to crack through the Defence veterans’ backline by scoring four goals without a reply. The four goals were scored by Wycliffe Ongori, who scored his second goal of the day, Omondi James, and a brace by Agunda Anita.
Parkroad registered their first win of the day by beating Greensharks two goals to one. The two goals were scored by Benard Waweru and Cyrus Kanyi while John Waraga scored for Greensharks.
Three goals by Parrat Shah of the Sikh union proved to be enough for them to win comfortably against The Defence veterans. Blue Oceans on the other hand failed to secure a comeback against Impala as they lost to the latter two goals to three.
The last game of the day saw Wazalendo beat Nakuru hockey club by only one goal scored by James Omondi.
