The Makanda Peace Cup tournament is on this weekend at St Anthony Boys High School in Kitale. The tournament which has been the tradition of principals of the school since 2007 has been attracting a lot of teams from western and the rift valley. A total of 16 teams have confirmed participation. Some of the teams include the 2022 winners of the Betty Tioni tournament USIU, Kitale Hockey, St Joseph’s girls, and the host St. Anthony.
Speaking to The Hockey Republik on Wednesday night, the tournament organizer of the tournament, Kevin Lugalia said he is glad the tournament is back and looks forward to an exciting weekend.
Only 4 ladies’ teams have registered for the tournament. They include USIU which has registered 2 teams, Eldoret Polytechnic and St Joseph’s girls from Kitale.
14 men’s teams have confirmed participation in the tournament. They have been pooled into 4 teams.
